Hour 1: The Start of Something New

Now it is time to start the readathon and I’m just going to answer the questions from the Hour 0 post att Dewey’s.

Books finished: 0
Books started: 0
Pages read: 0
Total amout of books opened: 0

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m reading from Sweden, so here the starttime is 2 pm!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I really look forward to read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, so this is the book I will start with. I also look forward to finish Insurgent which is the book I been reading a while back.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Oh, I just came home from the store where I bought some snacks. I really look forward to my cashews and I also bought bacon to be able to make a BLT, we’ll see if I have time for that. I stocked up on a lot of food that is easy to make, like instant noodles and such. Also I will probably order pizza at some point.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
My name is Matilda, but you can call me Foxears which is my name online. I am a 26 year old university student doing my Masters in Engineering. Because of my studies I usually don’t have much time for reading which is why I love that I can get some reading done for 24 hours in a wonderful community atmosphere.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I have been living 2 years in China and the last time I participated was April 2012 from my dorm in Beijing. It is nice that I will not read from 8pm to 8pm again, but have earlier hours, and also that I have an apartment of my own instead of getting yelled at by the cleaning lady for moving a comfy chair into the computer room. I will try to drink more water, and save my coke for when I get tired so I don’t feel so sloshy, but to compensate I bought mostly healthy snacks like olives, cashews and fruit.

Outlander is one of my all-time faves so I hope you enjoy it! I’ll also be trying to make it the whole 24 hours so we’ll have to help each other :) Happy reading!!

I do really enjoy it, but I was really surprised to see how thick it was when I opened the package! I was imagining a 400 page book at maximum, but this is 850 pages or so! I’ll never be able to finish this during the readathon since I read about 600 pages during the last one!

Good luck with your 24 hours! :D
